First Impressions
Walking into City Club Hotel on West 44th Street, you immediately get that classic New York boutique vibe — it’s not trying too hard, but there’s definitely character here. The lobby has this sort of understated elegance that feels refreshingly authentic in a city full of over-the-top hotel experiences. What struck me right away was how the staff genuinely seemed to know their regulars, and honestly, that’s something you don’t see much in Midtown Manhattan.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about this four-star spot — the location is absolutely killer, and I mean that in the best way possible. You’re literally in the heart of everything that matters in Midtown, just steps from Times Square but far enough away that you won’t hear the Elmo impersonators at 2 AM. Bryant Park is a quick walk, Grand Central is right there, and you know what? The Theater District is so close you could probably catch a show even if you’re running late. Couples especially seem to love wandering around this neighborhood — there’s something romantic about having all of Manhattan at your doorstep.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but smartly designed — this is New York, after all, so you’re not getting a sprawling suite unless you’re paying serious money. What I appreciated was how everything felt purposeful rather than cramped. The bed was actually comfortable (not always a given in the city), and the bathroom had decent water pressure, which honestly made my day. If you’re traveling with pets, you’ll want to check their specific policies, but the staff seemed pretty accommodating when I asked about four-legged guests during my stay.
Morning Fuel
The continental breakfast isn’t going to blow your mind, but it gets the job done — think pastries, coffee that’s better than hotel standard, and enough options to fuel up before hitting the streets. I actually liked that it wasn’t some massive buffet situation; sometimes simple works better when you’re eager to get out and explore. The dining area has these big windows that let in great morning light, and there’s something nice about starting your day watching New York wake up around you.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it strikes that perfect balance between being in the thick of everything while still feeling like a proper retreat. The parking situation is typical Manhattan chaos, so I’d honestly recommend just embracing the subway or walking everywhere — you’re positioned perfectly for both. The staff genuinely cares about making your stay work, and in a city where service can feel transactional, that personal touch makes all the difference. It’s not the fanciest hotel you’ll find, but it’s got soul, and sometimes that matters more than marble bathrooms and gold fixtures.

The staff were very friendly and it was clean. We rang for extra blankets a couple of times and they were delivered to our rooms very promptly. Great location.
Farah
The hotel is perfectly located by all the main sights. We were nervous to visit the hotel after reading some of the negative reviews, but we were extremely happy with our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was very large and clean. We will definitely return in the future!
Michele

Naoto
Location is perfect!
Bruna
The localization is FANTASTIC. Close enough to all main points like Times Square, Rockefeller Center but quiet. The breakfast is ok, not hot, but there is good coffee, cereal, cheese, iogurt…
Jane
Blue tooth speaker and the shower
Michelle
This hotel was conveniently located to Times Square and Grand Central. We also appreciated the continental breakfast which was a pleasant surprise and that the staff was able to hold our small bag post check out. The staff was also nice.
