Gansevoort Meatpacking
First Impressions
Walking up to the Gansevoort Meatpacking on 9th Avenue, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical five-star hotel experience. The building has this sleek, industrial vibe that perfectly captures the Meatpacking District’s transformation from gritty warehouse neighborhood to one of New York’s most coveted areas. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the High Line and some of the city’s best nightlife — honestly, the location alone makes this place worth considering if you want to be in the thick of things.
The Luxury Details
What struck me most about my room was how they managed to blend that raw, urban aesthetic with genuine luxury touches. The floor-to-ceiling windows give you these incredible views over the Hudson River, and you know what? On a clear day, you can actually see all the way to New Jersey (which sounds less exciting than it actually is). The bathrooms are spacious with deep soaking tubs, and there’s something satisfying about unwinding there after a long day of walking around the city. They’ve got this rooftop pool that’s honestly one of the best spots in the neighborhood — it gets busy during summer evenings, but that’s part of the energy.
Location Perks
Here’s what I love about staying in this part of Greenwich Village — you’re close enough to walk to the Whitney Museum, Chelsea Market is basically around the corner, and the restaurant scene is incredible. The hotel sits right where the action is, but somehow it doesn’t feel overwhelming. Couples especially seem to gravitate toward this area, and I get why — there’s something romantic about strolling along the High Line at sunset, then grabbing dinner at one of those intimate spots tucked into the cobblestone streets. Private parking is available too, which is actually a big deal in this neighborhood where finding a spot can be a nightmare.
Dining and Amenities
The hotel’s dining situation is solid — their rooftop bar gets pretty lively, especially on weekends when the after-work crowd mingles with hotel guests. I wouldn’t say it’s the best food in the neighborhood (there’s too much competition for that), but it’s convenient and the atmosphere is definitely part of the appeal. The spa services are well-done if you need to decompress, and the fitness center has everything you’d expect from a luxury property. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know the area well — they gave me some great recommendations for late-night spots that I never would have found on my own.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this hotel works because it captures the spirit of the Meatpacking District without trying too hard. You’re staying somewhere that feels authentically New York — industrial, sophisticated, and just a little bit edgy. Pet owners will appreciate that they’re welcome here, and honestly, this neighborhood is great for dog walking with all the waterfront paths nearby. The combination of luxury amenities and that unbeatable location score makes sense when you experience it firsthand. It’s the kind of place where you can roll out of bed and be at some of the city’s best attractions within minutes, but still retreat to something that feels special and separate from the tourist chaos.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gansevoort with our family. The employees were all lovely. The pools is open for kids until noon so the day started there. The location is great and Meatpacking was much more calm and quiet than we had expected. Highly recommend breakfast at Pastis and The Standard, walking to Little Island and of course The...

The location is perfect! It is right in the centre of one of the best parts of NYC; Soho House and Hermes is right across the road, so it tells you about the neighbourhood. There are many stylish cafes, restaurants, and shops. On the rooftop, you can enjoy a swimming pool with views across NYC. The rooms are well-designed and clean, and the staff...
