First Impressions
Walking into Hotel 50 Bowery, part of JdV by Hyatt, you immediately notice how it manages to feel both sleek and welcoming — honestly, not every four-star hotel in New York pulls that off. The lobby has this modern industrial vibe that somehow works perfectly in Chinatown, and you can tell they put thought into making it feel distinctly New York without being gimmicky. There’s something refreshing about a hotel that doesn’t try too hard to impress you right off the bat. The attention to detail throughout the public spaces reflects a commitment to creating an environment where guests feel genuinely valued.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s great about staying here? You’re right in the heart of Chinatown, which means incredible food literally steps from your door, but you’re also close enough to walk to SoHo, Little Italy, and the Financial District without breaking a sweat. I mean, couples consistently rate this location highly for good reason — it’s one of those spots where you feel like you’re experiencing the real city. The subway access is solid too, with multiple lines nearby, so getting uptown or to Brooklyn is actually pretty straightforward. This central position makes it an ideal base for exploring Manhattan’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
The Room Experience
The rooms here are where this place really shines — guests consistently rave about the beds, and honestly, they’re not wrong. After walking around the city all day, sinking into one of these beds feels like a small miracle. The room design is clean and contemporary, with floor-to-ceiling windows that give you proper city views (depending on which side you’re on). There’s enough space to actually unpack and settle in, which isn’t always a given in Manhattan hotels. The thoughtful layout and quality furnishings create a comfortable retreat after exploring the bustling streets outside.
Dining & Amenities
The American breakfast here is solid — nothing too fancy, but it gets the job done and the quality is consistently good. What I really appreciate is that they don’t try to overcomplicate things; sometimes you just want decent coffee and eggs before heading out to explore. The hotel’s restaurant has a nice atmosphere for dinner too, though with Chinatown’s incredible dining scene right outside, you’ll probably want to venture out at least a few nights. The culinary offerings reflect the hotel’s commitment to providing guests with quality options throughout their stay.
Why Guests Love It
This hotel works because it strikes that sweet spot between comfort and location that’s surprisingly hard to find in New York. Pet owners will be happy to know they welcome furry companions, which is a real bonus when you’re traveling with your dog or cat in the city. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay smooth, and the building itself has character without feeling dated. Recent guests consistently rate their experience highly, and after staying here, you’ll understand why — it’s the kind of place that just makes sense for a New York trip. The combination of upscale service, prime positioning, and authentic charm creates an unforgettable urban experience.
Pet allowed hotels blend cozy lobbies, fenced garden spaces, and staff who remember your dog’s name by checkout.

I loved the cleanliness of the room I stayed in and how they cleaned everyday. That made me feel less of a germaphobe staying there. Loved they gave specifically natural spring water to us at check in. The second floor and top floor were awesome.
Michael
Very clean - comfortable. 2nd floor morning coffee was great and the rooftop patio on the 2nd floor was also wonderful. Location is tough for Uber and taxis to get to. They have to fight through bridge traffic and often times dropped our ride after a minute or 2. Allow an extra 10 minutes above and beyond what the app tells you. Great maid...

The staff were fantastic. Rooms were a nice size (especially for NYC). You are in the heart of Chinatown but you are also next to Little Italy, Nolita, Soho, etc. I walked through Little Italy every morning for bagels.

Good view of NYC from our room on 13th floor
