First Impressions
Walking up to Hôtel Aurore Paris Gare de Lyon, you immediately get that classic Parisian neighborhood vibe — it’s tucked away on a quiet side street that feels authentically local rather than touristy. The building itself has that typical Haussmanian charm you’d expect in Paris, and honestly, the entrance gives off more character than you’d typically find at a three-star property. What struck me right away was how the staff seemed genuinely welcoming rather than just going through the motions — there’s something to be said for a place where they actually remember your name.
The Perfect Neighborhood Base
You know what’s brilliant about this location? You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Gare de Lyon, which means easy access to trains heading south or connecting to other parts of the city, but you’re not dealing with the chaos that comes with being right on top of a major station. The 12th arrondissement has this wonderful residential feel — I mean, you’ve got proper Parisian cafés where locals actually drink their morning coffee, and the Coulée Verte (that elevated park built on old railway tracks) is practically around the corner. It’s the kind of spot where couples end up wandering for hours just soaking in the authentic Paris atmosphere, which probably explains why they rate the location so highly.
Comfortable Accommodations
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d want from a well-run three-star — clean, thoughtfully designed, and with those little touches that show someone actually cares about guest comfort. Nothing fancy, but the bed was genuinely comfortable and the bathroom had decent water pressure (trust me, that’s not always a given in Paris). What I appreciated was the attention to soundproofing — despite being near a major train station, I slept surprisingly well. The décor strikes that sweet spot between modern functionality and Parisian charm without trying too hard to be trendy.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here is one of those continental buffet setups that actually works — fresh pastries, decent coffee, and enough variety to fuel whatever adventure you’re planning for the day. I’ve stayed at places where the breakfast feels like an afterthought, but this felt more like they understand that starting your day right matters. The breakfast area has this cozy, almost family-run feel to it, and you’ll often find yourself chatting with other travelers over coffee. It’s not elaborate, but it’s done well, which honestly matters more than having twenty different options.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something about this place that keeps people coming back — apparently they have more repeat guests than most hotels, and after staying here, I get it. It’s that rare combination of being professionally run while still feeling personal and welcoming. The location really is exceptional for exploring Paris authentically, whether you’re planning day trips via train or just want to experience the city like locals do. For travelers with pets, the staff’s genuine friendliness extends to four-legged guests too, making it one of those places where you don’t feel like you’re imposing by bringing your companion along. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Paris — it’s just trying to be really good at what it does.
Travelers who book pet friendly hotels juggle morning park walks with café terraces that welcome wagging tails.

Good value for our 1 night stay before flight! It was a short walk from Gare de Lyon. Friendly, helpful front desk staff who spoke some English and arranged for taxi to airport. The room was small yet clean & comfortable with room darkening drapes, good security and also nice view of the street for people watching. The room had electric teapot &...

The location was amazing and the place was spotless/in great condition. There was an amazing bakery just across the road - best traditional baguettes and pain au chocolate we’ve ever had. We were allowed to store our bags before check in as we arrived early. Would not hesitate to recommend this property!
