Moxy NYC East Village
First Impressions
Walking into Moxy NYC East Village, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical four-star hotel. The lobby buzzes with energy — there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole vibe. I mean, you’re right in the heart of one of New York’s most creative neighborhoods, so it makes sense that the hotel would capture that artistic spirit. The staff actually seems to enjoy working here, which honestly makes a huge difference when you’re traveling with pets and need that extra bit of understanding.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s great about staying on East 11th Street? You’re literally surrounded by some of the best dog-friendly spots in the city. Tompkins Square Park is just a few blocks away — and trust me, your four-legged friend will thank you for that massive off-leash area. The East Village has this wonderful walkable quality that makes morning dog walks feel like mini adventures rather than chores. Plus, couples seem to absolutely love this area (they rate it 9.3 apparently), and I can see why — there’s something romantic about strolling these tree-lined streets, especially in the evening when the neighborhood settles into its quieter rhythm.
The Room Experience
The room design is smart and functional without feeling cramped. What I appreciated most was how thoughtfully everything was laid out — there’s actually space for pet supplies without having to rearrange furniture. The beds are comfortable (important when you might have a furry companion trying to claim their share), and the windows offer nice street views that give you a real sense of being part of the neighborhood fabric. The whole space feels modern but not sterile, if that makes sense.
Dining & Amenities
The breakfast situation works well for pet owners — they offer American-style breakfast to go, which is perfect when you want to grab something quick and head out for morning walks. I found their restaurant area to be pretty relaxed about well-behaved pets, though you’ll want to check current policies. There’s also private parking available, which honestly can be a lifesaver in this part of Manhattan when you’re traveling with pets and all their gear.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it balances that boutique hotel charm with practical pet-friendly policies. The location score of 9.2 isn’t just a number — you feel it every time you step outside and realize you’re within walking distance of amazing coffee shops, vintage stores, and those essential pet supply runs. The East Village has this wonderful community feel where dogs are genuinely welcomed, not just tolerated. After staying here, I understood why so many guests keep coming back — it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it nails the things that actually matter when you’re exploring New York with your pet.
Travelers who book pet friendly hotels juggle morning park walks with café terraces that welcome wagging tails.

Great location with proximity to NYU. Great value for a double room in NYC and we had a spacious bathroom! Four of us in the room felt cozy but not crowded. The bar and lounge area in the hotel is amazing - tons of seating, skeeball machine, and cool vibe! Closest Metro station is Astor Place, right in front of a Wegman's. 8 St NYU station is a...

The room was very clean with good storage. There was complimentary coffee on tap in the mornings. The outdoor space at the bar was very nice and the giant Jenga game was a bit of fun. Although downstairs could be quite loud, the rooms were very quiet.
