First Impressions
Walking into Residence Inn by Marriott New York Manhattan/ Midtown Eastside, you immediately get that “this is actually doable” feeling — you know, when a New York hotel doesn’t make you want to cry about your credit card bill. This four-star extended-stay property sits right on East 48th Street, and honestly, the location is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without the Times Square chaos. The lobby has that clean Marriott vibe, but it’s the kind of place where you can bring your dog without getting side-eye from the front desk staff.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Midtown East is one of those areas that locals actually don’t mind walking through — which says something in Manhattan. You’re literally steps from Grand Central (perfect for airport connections), and the UN headquarters is right there if you’re into that sort of thing. What I really love is how walkable everything is — Central Park is maybe fifteen minutes on foot, and you’ve got solid restaurant options in every direction. The couples rating this place 9.4 for location aren’t wrong; there’s something romantic about being able to stroll to Bryant Park or catch a show without dealing with subway transfers.
Living Space That Actually Works
Here’s where this place really shines — every room is basically an apartment with a full kitchen. I mean, having a real fridge and stovetop in Manhattan feels like winning the lottery. The beds are genuinely comfortable (they got high marks for this, and I can see why), and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase instead of living out of it for a week. Pet owners will appreciate that the rooms don’t feel cramped when you’re sharing with a four-legged travel buddy — there’s actual floor space for dog beds and food bowls.
Breakfast and Daily Rhythms
The American buffet breakfast is solid — nothing fancy, but it gets the job done and saves you from the $25 hotel room service eggs situation. What’s nice is that with your own kitchen setup, you can actually grocery shop and eat like a normal human being. There’s a Whole Foods about six blocks away, and plenty of delis closer if you just need basics. The parking situation is typical Manhattan (meaning expensive), but if you’re flying in, the Grand Central connection makes cars pretty unnecessary anyway.
Why Guests Love It
This isn’t the flashiest hotel in the city, but it’s the kind of place that makes sense for real trips — especially if you’re staying more than a couple nights or traveling with pets. The 8.4 rating reflects what you actually get: a clean, comfortable base in an excellent location where you can live a bit more normally than in a typical hotel box. The staff knows how to handle pet guests without making it feel like a big production, and the extended-stay setup means you’re not constantly eating out or feeling cramped. It’s particularly great for couples who want to explore the city but also have a proper place to retreat to at the end of long sightseeing days.
Travelers who book pet friendly hotels juggle morning park walks with café terraces that welcome wagging tails.

Izabella
The hotel is in excellent location with several subway stations nearby, it's close enough that you can easily walk to Times Square, but far enough that you are not in middle of it at night. The rooms are quite large for NYC standards and the breakfast is a nice touch.
Angela
The complimentary breakfast was very good, could have used some veggies. Our suite was very comfortable and allowed for cooking.
Kosta
Great location. Room was reasonably well equipped for self catering.
